Behind a Big Wheel
Truck drivers make our nation run efficiently, carrying every day products on the road to our stores. Although not the ideal profession for everyone, truck drivers get to see more of our nation than most Americans.
And the trucking industry is growing, opening its doors to all groups. With new technology trucking is a less physical job, allowing women to jump behind the wheel and join the mostly male-dominated industry.
Many women say they can make more money on the road than at home in traditional women’s careers. An added bonus is that in trucking there’s no gender discrimination because drivers are paid by the mile. This means that truckers can make a good salary, regardless of age, gender, or other factors.
In fact, most truckers perceive their earnings as good or better (according to a University of Florida study). If that sounds good to you, maybe you should jump behind the wheel too and find truck driver jobs in your area. Anybody up for a drive?
