Corporate Catering - A Way to Statistically Improve Events?

Ok, so technically, I couldn’t find any information about how corporate catering would actually “statistically” improve events, however, ask anyone in the business world, and if the food is good at an event, it will be remembered as being an excellent event. If the food is lousy, but the speakers are good, that will stand out in the minds of people as being somewhat of a failure. At least according to my own personal statistics.

I recently went to an event in Salt Lake City that advertised that breakfast and lunch would be provided during the two day show. I was glad to hear that food would be a part of my ticket.

I was sadly disappointed.

The food, while decent, was very limited in quantity, and it seemed to me more like hors d’oevures rather than breakfast and lunch. I didn’t want a cute little salad in a mini chinese takeout holder, which is what lunch consisted of. I wanted something substantial because I was hungry. I had to take 3 or 4 of those mini salads, and that made me look like a pig in front of my colleagues, which was rather embarassing for me.

Now, I don’t think that the event was a failure, but if they had gotten a real Salt Lake City corporate caterer, it would have made a difference to me, and I would have given much more positive reveiws of the event. I’m sure this is not a one time deal. I think that most people find that food is important, especially when they’re travelling in a city they’re not familiar with. I didn’t feel like going out and looking for food, however, I ended up eating some food from a street vendor nearby because I was so hungry.

I guess my advice is when you’re hosting a corporate event, take your time and review the menu with the caterers. Make sure they come highly recommended, and even taste their food. If you want your event to be a great success, don’t skimp on the food!
