Data Loss in Business
Data loss costs U.S. businesses more than $18 billion a year, according to the Pepperdine study in 2003. That study is the most recent estimate available, but the number is probably much higher today.
Although most companies have policies about document retention and compliance for reasons of security and legal compliance, and for better business efficiency, most employees don’t follow the policies due to a low enforcement or for other reasons. Here is a scary statistic for any business:
o About 70% of business people have experienced data loss due to accidental deletion, disk or system failure, viruses, fire or some other disaster. (Survey by Carbonite, May.)
If you don’t want to be part of the statistic that accidentally deletes or loses the up-to-date or important document, be sure to get compliance software, which makes it easy to track and save your documents.
And don’t forget the data backup too.
