There are several federal regulations for businesses and their documents. Here are some of the numbers as to why the government felt they needed to regulate it a little more (some of this is all Enron’s fault!). Now risk management is essential for businesses.

- 35% of all documents in the corporate world contain information that is legally sensitive.
- One out of every four documents in the corporate world is subject to regulation compliance.
- Only 30% of all businesses have the necessary technology to help them retain and dispose of appropriate documents.
