E-Recording Accuracy Statistics
So I’ve been wondering about something. Before the digital age, when companies didn’t have access to e-filing or e-recording, how many mistakes were made in hand copying information from one document to another? The Bible is a good example. Through the years, because of copying it so many times, and the languages being interpreted so many times, who knows what the original actually read? This could explain why different books tell the same story with different details. It’s not because the information was written incorrectly by the authors - it’s because the books were copied so many times that small details were altered, and that eventually lead to major changes.
Statistics show that the more times something is translated or copied, the more mistakes will become evident. That is, until the digital age came along. With the ability to electronically record documents, they don’t have to be copied by hand. The mortgage industry can greatly benefit because an exact electronic copy of the original is available - thus greatly decreasing the chances for mistakes. So I guess that answers my question - electronic recording greatly reduces mistakes because the risk for making them is removed because documents don’t have to be copied by hand. Don’t you love the electronic age!
