Starting Salary
For many college graduates (unless science grads) the starting salary is around $30,000. Many college graduates, despite paying thousands of dollars in tuition and taking years to complete school, end up never going into the industry related to their major. Even if they do use their college degree, they may find that they don’t enjoy the work or make much less money than anticipated.
Unlike their older counterparts, many college graduates are not staying in a dead-end job, but turning to faster paced jobs that they enjoy doing. Sometimes they make more money at these new careers, but overall they enjoy the work better.
With many job openings, one of these industries that is attracting college graduates is the trucking industry. With plenty of available truck driver jobs in almost every area of the country, these careers provide a change of pace, better pay, and more benefits than traditional jobs because employers are hurting for workers. As more and more supplies continue to be delivered through trucks, companies continue to have a need for an increased number of truck drivers. With supply so low and demand so high, college graduates can find better pay, a flexible schedule, and other benefits with a rewarding career in truck driving.
