With the warmer weather approaching, so do a lot of annoying little critters. One of these sometimes pests is the bee. Maybe it is just the tail-end of them that is considered the pest because when they get mad, we know it soon enough. So whether you decide to hide inside all summer to avoid them or you get a bee hat, here are some interesting facts about bees that might make you look at them in a whole new light. But then again, maybe not.
- Each bee usually visits between 50-1000 flowers a day. Sometimes they even visit several thousand a day.
- Queen Bees will usually lay 5 or 6 eggs every minute. They usually average about 2000,000 eggs each year.
- The hive’s temperature is over 90 degrees, as an average.
- The only insect that produces food for humans is the honeybee.
- One little hive can contain about 40,000-45,000 bees.
- In order to produce one pound of honey, honeybees have to visit about 2 million flowers.
- As an average, bees fly about 13-15 mph.
